Iranian short ‘Slaughter’ to vie in Poland

Iran’s short ‘Slaughter’ is to compete at the PUBLICYSTYKA Int’l film festival in Poland.

Iran short film ‘Slaughter’ has been set to compete at the 26th PUBLICYSTYKA international film festival in Poland.

Co-directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand-Karimi, the short narrates the story of a family in a village in Iran. Facing a tough winter, father of the family, Qasem, decides to sell their only cow. The son who is emotionally attached to the cow lets it loose to stop the slaughter.

The short has competed in a number of international and domestic festivals, including the International Student Film Festival in Bulgaria.

PUBLICYSTYKA festival showcases films with social and political themes. It also holds several workshops and meetings to improve filmmaking skills.

The 26th edition of the festival is slated for October 18-19.
